Jiu Chen  is a Daoist-inspired ritual incense created around the rare symbolism of thunderstruck wood. In traditional Daoist belief, wood touched by lightning is associated with celestial force, pure yang energy, renewal, and spiritual clarity. This incense carries that ancient imagery into a refined daily ritual for quiet spaces, meditation, tea, reading, and personal reflection.

The incense uses thunderstruck jujube wood as its core material, supported by a carefully balanced blend of sweet flag root, clove, mint, red dates, and beeswax. Each ingredient is selected not only for its scent profile, but also for its place within the traditional idea of five-element harmony. The result is a fragrance that feels clean, warm, grounded, and subtly awakening.

The name “Jiu Chen ” draws from Daoist cosmology. “Jiu Chen” refers to the Nine Celestial Sovereigns in the Shenxiao Daoist tradition, connected with thunder, celestial order, and transformation. “Pu Chang” suggests a fragrance that spreads gently, harmonizing the atmosphere like a quiet current moving through space.

This incense was ritually prepared and consecrated at Ningzhen Temple in Kuocang Cave, known in Daoist tradition as one of the sacred cave-heavens. It was completed on the birthday of the Southern Sacred Emperor, adding a layer of ceremonial meaning to the incense beyond its physical fragrance.

Burn one stick during meditation, morning cleansing rituals, tea practice, study, or quiet evening reflection. Its smoke is soft and restrained, with a woody, herbal, slightly warm character. It is designed for those who seek not only scent, but also atmosphere, intention, and a deeper connection to Eastern ritual culture.
