Five Sacred Mountains & Ten-Character Thunder Scripture Pendant
A double-sided thunderstruck wood pendant pairing the Five Sacred Mountains diagram with a compact scripture from the Daoist Thunder tradition.
Origin & Story
One face carries the Five Sacred Mountains diagram, a Daoist map that turns China’s five directional peaks into a cosmological order. The reverse references the Shenxiao Ten-Character Celestial Scripture, preserved in Daoist textual traditions connected with the Jade Pivot Scripture and the Nine Heavens Thunder deity.
The two sides create a deliberate relationship: mountains establish place and orientation; thunder liturgy signals authority, clarity and transformation. Machine carving keeps the fine lines legible, while the dense jujube wood gives the piece warmth and a restrained, architectural silhouette.
Traditional Meaning & Intention
Historically, mountain diagrams and thunder-script motifs belonged to religious and protective contexts. In contemporary wear, the pendant can carry an intention of grounded courage: standing firmly in one’s place while moving through uncertain conditions with attention.
- Grounding and directional clarity
- Courage in unfamiliar situations
- Traditional protection intention
- A connection to Daoist landscape and Thunder-rite culture
Temple Ritual & Blessing
Before release, this object was placed on a Daoist temple altar for a period and included in a blessing rite conducted by Daoist priests. For Dao Origin, that rite is part of the object’s provenance: a deliberate preparation that joins material, craft and intention.
Materials & Dimensions
This piece is carved from solid natural heartwood selected from a tree that had been struck by lightning. It is genuine wood—not resin, plastic or an engineered wood composite. Heartwood is the dense inner section of the tree, chosen for its close grain and material integrity. Because colour, grain direction, growth marks and tonal depth occur naturally, no two finished pieces will be identical; these variations are part of the material rather than defects.
- Material: thunderstruck jujube wood
- Approx. size: 4 cm high × 4 cm wide × 1 cm thick
- Approx. weight: 12.5 g
- Craft: precision machine carving
- In stock; natural grain and colour vary
